Highest number of advance voters in Spain

A total of 9,409 persons visited the Finnish diplomatic missions abroad to cast their votes in the advance voting of the municipal elections. The number is higher than in the municipal elections of 2012, when the total number of voters abroad was 8,267.

The advance voting was arranged in 78 countries and at a total of 125 polling stations. Furthermore, crew members on Finnish ships were provided with an opportunity to vote in advance on board. Around two hundred crew members used this opportunity. Advance voting was also arranged at the bases of the Finnish crisis management forces in Iraq and Lebanon.

By far the highest number of advance votes was cast in Spain, where a total of 3,342 voters visited the various advance polling stations around the country. The second highest number of voters was recorded in the United States, where 515 persons cast their votes. Belgium with 468 advance voters came in third place.
