The brochures intended for crime victims have been updated and more language versions are now available at the website oikeus.fi. The brochures contain information that is useful for crime victims and their families.

If you become a victim of a crime

The brochure If you become a victim of a crime contains information on what to do if a person has become a victim of a crime. The brochure is a practical guide introducing the different stages of the criminal procedure.

The brochure is available in English, Finnish, easy-to-read Finnish, Swedish, easy-to-read Swedish, North Saami, Russian, Estonian, Somali and Arabic.

The brochure and its language versions are available on the website Oikeus.fi

Rights of a crime victim

The brochure Rights of a crime victim contains information on matters that the victim has the right to be informed about by the authorities. The brochure provides information for example on the support services available for crime victims, legal assistance, possibilities to obtain victim protection, applying for compensations, the right to interpretation and translation of documents, and mediation in criminal matters.

The printable brochure is intended to be handed out to crime victims and to be utilised by the police and other criminal investigation authorities in their communication. The brochure may also be used and distributed by judicial authorities, support services for crime victims, and other actors who deal with crime victims.

The brochure is available in English, Finnish, easy-to-read Finnish, Swedish, North Saami, Russian, Estonian, Sorani, Somali and Arabic. The brochure will be published in easy-to-read Swedish later this year.

Children as crime victims

The guide Children as crime victims is intended for parents and guardians of children who are suspected of having become a victim of a violent or sexual offence. The guide contains information on the different stages of the criminal procedure and how the parents and guardians may in the best possible way support their children.

The guide contains basic information on the practical arrangements during the criminal investigation and trial. The guide includes answers to the most typical questions that parents usually are concerned about and provides information on where to find help and support.
