Revised legislation on sexual offences enters into force at the beginning of next year

The amended provisions on sexual offences in the Criminal Code will enter into force on 1 January 2023. The reform aims to strengthen everyone’s right to sexual self-determination and the protection of personal integrity.

"Russia's invasion of Ukraine is a blatant violation of international law. Finland is committed to supporting the work of the International Criminal Court to investigate international crimes committed in Ukraine in order to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Minister of Justice Anna-Maja Henriksson stressed at an international ministerial meeting today.

In its Plenary Session today, on 9 December, the Government decided to submit the Government Report on the Application of Linguistic Rights to Parliament. The Language Report, compiled during each electoral term, contains up-to-date information on the situation in Finland in terms of languages, structures supporting linguistic rights and the impact of administrative changes on language groups.
