The Finnish Minister of Justice Leena Luhtanen gives a survey before the EP
Minister of Justice Leena Luhtanen will present an interim report on the Presidency to the European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs on Wednesday 22 November. The report will focus on the future assessment of the Hague Programme in particular.
The assessment of the Hague Programme is the focal point of the Finnish Presidency in judicial matters. This programme includes the objectives of cooperation in justice and home affairs up to 2010. A political discussion on the assessment took place at the meeting of the Ministers of Justice and Ministers of the Interior in Tampere on 21-22 September.
In the committee hearing, Minister Luhtanen will also go through some other key projects pertaining to the Presidency. These include establishing the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, facilitating the transfer of prisoners between EU countries, and the data protection provisions concerning police and criminal co-operation.
