Polling station in the European elections to be determined based on voters’ place of residence on 19 April
The election day polling station in the European elections is determined based on the voter’s place of residence. The voting register for the European elections, or elections to the European Parliament, to be held in June 2024 will be compiled based on the information contained in the Population Information System on 19 April 2024.
On election day, voters may only vote at the polling station mentioned in the polling card sent to them, whereas voting in advance is possible at any of the general advance polling stations.
The election day for the European elections in Finland is Sunday 9 June 2024. The advance voting period is in Finland from 29 May to 4 June 2024. Abroad, advance voting will be conducted between 29 May and 1 June 2024, but many of the advance polling stations abroad are open for a shorter period than this.
If an eligible voter moves after 19 April, their election day polling station is determined in accordance with their previous place of residence.
Polling cards will be sent by post or via Suomi.fi service
A polling card (notice of right to vote) will be sent to all eligible voters in April or May. The polling card will be sent only in electronic format to those eligible voters who have activated the Suomi.fi Messages service and given their consent for all official messages to be sent to them electronically. Approximately 1.2 million Finns will receive an electronic polling card in connection with the European elections.
