On 16 March 2020, Prime Minister Marin’s Government decided on additional measures to manage the coronavirus outbreak in Finland.

Ministries and agencies are now receiving many questions about what the Government’s policy means in practice. The Ministry of Justice has put together answers to frequently asked questions about the policy: “Public gatherings are limited to no more than ten persons, and it is recommend to avoid spending unnecessary time in public places.” The answers on the website will be supplemented continuously.

The main rule is that every adult is responsible for complying with the restrictions on gatherings and the instructions on maintaining social distance at their own initiative. It is the responsibility of adults to ensure that children also comply with them.

In order to slow down the spread of the coronavirus, people must avoid social interaction as much as possible. This must be done to protect people at risk and to avoid overwhelming the healthcare system.

The Government decided to implement restrictions on gatherings in order to slow the spread of coronavirus infections and to protect at-risk groups on 16 March 2020. The restrictions will remain in force until 13.4.2020. The Government’s decision was brought into force by the Regional State Administrative Agencies on 17 March 2020.
