Election day for the second round of presidential election is Sunday 11 February
The second round of the presidential election will take place on Sunday 11 February 2024. Polling stations will be open from 9.00 to 20.00. Preliminary results will be published on the evening of the election starting at 20.00.
A second round will be conducted in the presidential election as none of the candidates received more than half of the votes in the first round. The candidates in the second round are Alexander Stubb representing the National Coalition Party with candidate number 8 and Pekka Haavisto representing a constituency association with candidate number 10.
The candidate numbers are the same as in the first round. The list of candidates will be displayed in the voting booth.
Finnish citizens who have reached the age of 18 have the right to vote
All Finnish citizens who have reached the age of 18 years no later than on 28 January 2024 are entitled to vote in the 2024 presidential election, regardless of their place of residence. The same voting register that was used in the first round will also be used in the second round, which means that the same persons are entitled to vote in both rounds.
On election day, 11 February, you may only vote at the polling station given in your polling card
On election day, eligible voters may only vote at the polling station given in their polling card. Polling stations will be open from 9.00 to 20.00. If there is a queue at the polling station, all voters who have arrived before 20.00 to wait for their turn will be allowed to vote.

Proving identity at polling station
Voters must present proof of their identity at the polling station. Official photo IDs, such as passports, driving licences and identity cards issued by the police are accepted as proof of identity. It is essential that an election official can reliably verify the voter's identity based on the document. Voters who do not have a valid proof of identity can obtain a temporary identity card free of charge from the police for voting purposes.
First preliminary results will be available through the Ministry of Justice's Result Service on 11 February from 20.00 onwards
The vote count of the second round of the presidential election can be followed in the Ministry of Justice's Result Service and in the media. During the evening of election day, the results will be updated as the vote count progresses. The data to be published in the Result Service includes the number and percentage of votes received by each candidate in the entire country and in each electoral district, municipality and voting district.
The results that will be published during the evening of election day are preliminary.
The constituency electoral committee of each electoral district will confirm the number of votes received by each candidate in that electoral district on Wednesday 14 February. The meetings must start at 18.00 at the latest. The Government will announce the election results at its plenary session on Thursday 15 February. The term of office of the President of the Republic will begin at the beginning of March.
Once the vote count has been completed, the results will also be made available as downloadable CSV files.
