Information on candidates for European elections is now available online
The constituency electoral committee of Helsinki has confirmed the nomination of candidates for the 2024 elections to the European Parliament, or European elections. Information on the candidates is available online in the Information and Result Service.
In the European elections, 15 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) will be elected in Finland for a term of five years.
The candidates stand for election in the entire country. Political parties entered in the party register and constituency associations established by at least 2,000 eligible voters may nominate candidates.
Who has the right to vote in the European elections?
All Finnish citizens who have reached the age of 18 by 9 June 2024 and those EU citizens residing in Finland who have reached the age of 18 by 9 June 2024 and have registered to vote in Finland have the right to vote in the 2024 European elections.
A person eligible to vote may only do so in one EU Member State: either in their home country or in their country of residence. The number of eligible voters in the upcoming elections in Finland is around 4.5 million.
The election day for the European elections is Sunday 9 June 2024. The advance voting period is from 29 May to 4 June 2024 in Finland and from 29 May to 1 June 2024 abroad.
