Information on candidates for presidential election is now available online
The constituency electoral committee of Helsinki has confirmed the nomination of candidates for the election of the President of the Republic in 2024. Information about the candidates is available in the Information and Result Service on the Electionsfinland.fi website.
Presidential elections are held every six years. All Finnish citizens who reach the age of 18 years no later than 28 January 2024 are entitled to vote in the upcoming election, regardless of their place of residence.
The nominated candidates stand as candidates in the entire country. Political parties and constituency associations established by at least 20,000 eligible voters entered in the party register may nominate candidates.
Schedule for the presidential election
The presidential elections may consist of two rounds, if necessary. If one of the candidates receives more than half of the votes in the first round of voting, that person is elected President. If no candidate receives more than half of the votes in the first round of voting,
a second round will be held between the two candidates who received the most votes.
The election day is Sunday 28 January 2024.
The advance voting period is from 17 to 23 January 2024 in Finland and from 17 to 20 January 2024 abroad.
The election day for the possible second round of voting is Sunday 11 February 2024.
The advance voting period is from 31 January to 6 February 2024 in Finland and from 31 January to 3 February 2024 abroad.
