In accordance with the programme of Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s Government, the Government will draw up a revised Strategy for the National Languages of Finland to ensure that everyone has the right to receive services in the national languages and to improve the language climate. This project is aimed at improving the language climate.

Summary
In accordance with the programme of Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s Government, the Government will draw up a revised Strategy for the National Languages of Finland to ensure that everyone has the right to receive services in the national languages and to improve the language climate. This project is aimed at improving the language climate.
Starting points
Perustuslakivaliokunta on vuoden 2017 kielikertomusta koskevassa mietinnössään (PeVM 2/2018) nostanut esiin huolensa koventuneesta kieli-ilmapiiristä ja peräänkuuluttanut toimia tähän puuttumiseksi. Valiokunta nostaa esiin myös Euroopan neuvoston ministerikomitean päätöslauselman, jonka suosituksissa Suomen viranomaisia on kehotettu ryhtymään välittömästi toimenpiteisiin muun muassa ennakkoluulojen ja jännitteisen ilmapiirin liennyttämiseksi.Sanna Marinin hallitusohjelmassa on kirjaus kieli-ilmapiirin parantamiseksi: ” Laaditaan uudistettu kansalliskielistrategia, joka turvaa kaikkien oikeuden saada palvelua kansalliskielillä ja parantaa kieli-ilmapiiriä.”

The aim is to support a better language climate in Finland.
